BT content chief to join ECB

Tony Singh begins work at the ECB in April

The chief of content at UK telco BT is leaving the company to join the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as its chief commercial officer.

Tony Singh, who takes up his role in April, will oversee all revenue generation as well as key commercial relationships and customer-facing activities at the ECB.

Singh is currently content and business development director at BT, where he has played a key role in growing BT TV and BT Sport over the past five years. He led the team responsible for the broadcaster’s cross-supply content deal with Sky and the commercial distribution of BT Sport to other platforms.

Additionally, Singh was one of the drivers in the process that saw the first episode of AMC period horror anthology series The Terror screened for free on YouTube in the UK last year.

The episode was available for 24 hours before heading to AMC, marking what was reportedly the first time a pay TV show had launched in the UK on YouTube before beeing broadcast on television.

Prior to joining BT in 2014, Singh held roles at consumer marketing agency Nectar and pubcaster the BBC’s commercial agency.
