Hungry Bear exec takes BBCS talent post

BBC Studios (BBCS) in the UK has appointed Sinead Oldnall as head of onscreen talent for its entertainment and music department.

In the newly created role, Oldnall will work with the department’s creative directors to support the strategic priorities for content production and bolster talent-fronted programme development.

In particular, she will work with talent looking to take their careers in a different direction or into a new genre.

She joins from Hungry Bear Media, where she oversaw talent across all commissions, including Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel for the BBC.

Oldnall has 20 years’ experience working with talent in TV, music, film and online. In TV, this included attracting high-profile talent to entertainment and music shows such as Channel 4’s Stand Up to Cancer and TFI Friday, The BRIT Awards on ITV and the BBC’s Would I Lie to You? and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

BBCS’s entertainment and music team produces programmes including Strictly Come Dancing, Comic Relief, A Question of Sport and coverage of the Glastonbury Festival.

Last week, BBCS revealed it had hired the co-creators of ITV quizshow format The Chase to spearhead creative development at the division, after earlier this month hiring James Payne as creative director for music.

All four of the new execs report to Suzy Lamb, MD of entertainment and music.

Lamb said of Oldnall’s appointment: “Sinead is one of the most highly regarded talent executives in the industry and has enviable relationships with a wide selection of TV celebrities, music artists, agents and managers in the UK and globally.”
