Classic stop-motion animation characters Morph and Chas are returning to CBBC next week for a one-off special from Aardman Animations.
The pair will star in Ricky’s Radical Reinventions, a special presented by animator and inventor Ricky Martin, who teaches viewers how to make things from everyday items. Aardman is producing, with head of broadcast Miles Bullough executive producing. Kez Margrie performs the same role for CBBC.
The original Morph and Chas characters, created by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, appeared in several Tony Hart-fronted children’s shows during the latter part of the 20th century, including Vision On. They most recently appeared on CiTV art show Smart, which ended in 2008.
Last week, CBBC controller Damian Kavanagh announced he was moving to UK terrestrial Channel 4 to head its features and factual formats division. CBBC’s head of acquisitions Sarah Muller has been tipped as favourite to replace him, though no announcement has come yet.
