Warrior finds new home on HBO Max

The first two seasons of Warrior aired on Cinemax

US streamer HBO Max will host the third season of Bruce Lee-inspired drama Warrior after adding the first two seasons to its library.

The first two runs were shown on HBO-owned premium channel Cinemax and are based on writings by the martial arts legend. The series centres on the Tong Wars in San Francisco’s Chinatown at the end of the 19th Century.

Created by Jonathan Tropper for his prodco Tropper Ink Productions, the show is exec produced by Tropper along with Justin Lin, Danielle Woodrow and Andrew Schneider for California’s Perfect Storm Entertainment. Lee’s daughter Shannon exec produces for Bruce Lee Entertainment.

Brad Kane, Richard Sharkey, Kenneth Lin, Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard are also executive producers.

The second season aired in October 2020 and details about the production of season three have yet to be revealed.

Shannon Lee said: “Justin, Jonathan and I were thrilled when Warrior was put on HBO platforms to be discovered by a whole new legion of fans. Now we are excited and grateful for the opportunity to do another season, and we applaud HBO Max for understanding the importance of telling this story and for continuing to support this level of representation in our industry.”
